August 5-11

Organizational Skills
I was a bit paranoid about losing all the information in my process journal since my means was a Microsoft Word document that I had no backups of. I was planning to make a backup on a removable disk but then I thought of making a blog; so I did. My information would be more easily accessible that way, and quite organized due to each blog post being one entry.
Communication
When I decided to change the format of my process journal to a blog instead of a Word document, I communicated with quite a few people about which blogging website I should use for my process journal. I finally decided on this website as I already have a Gmail account that I can use to sign in and out of my account. I also read a book on my tablet this week about a press photographer. This is the place where I got my blog title: Don’t think, just shoot. An excerpt of the book is below. In addition, I researched the Hoover Dam in Nevada, USA, which generates hydroelectric energy. My goal was to find information regarding its impact on the environment and how the energy is generated.
Information Literacy
I learned this week that there are a lot of blogging websites on the Internet and that it is takes a lot of time to find the perfect one to use as they are all quite easily accessible. I also learned that the Hoover Dam has its pros and cons. Some pros would be that it generates hydroelectric electricity, which powers quite a lot of homes and other buildings in America, and that hydroelectric energy is much more renewable than fossil fuels. This greatly helps in saving the environment. There are some cons, however, and they are that it disrupts the wildlife in the Colorado River (where the Hoover Dam is situated), it emits global warming as it is being installed as well as when it is running. It seems that there are as many advantages to building the Hoover Dam as there are disadvantages. Besides researching the Dam, (as said before) I read a book about a photographer. The way she felt about photography was sort of like how I felt about it, so I could not help taking a screenshot of one of the pages; I inserted it below. It felt good to learn that someone else felt the same way about photography as I did, even though she was just a fictional character.
